(Remote) Storage Networking solutions
Storage consolidation often means that customers change from DAS (Directly Attached Storage) to a SAN (Storage Area Network) environment or from multiple smaller SAN islands towards one large physical SAN network. The design of such a network requires expert knowledge on all server platforms present: HBA type, redundancy and load balancing possibilities, cluster software etc. Also an in-dept knowledge of FC and/or FICON SAN design and equipment as well as an expert knowledge on Disk and Tape hardware and related software is required to be able to build a customized, reliable and future-proof SAN.
More
and more, customers want to build a SAN network that stretches multiple
data-centers and as such includes large distance aspects. Today there
are storage networking solutions on the market that can channel storage
networks and create a storage resource "pool" that is unaffected
by distance.
A SAN can be interconnected in Any-to-Any configurations over infrastructures
such as IP, fiber optics, ATM, T3/E3... This enables you to establish
remote server to disk access and in the mean time provides an infrastructure
for D/R and business continuance applications like remote disk mirroring
and tape vaulting.
To design and maintain such complex consolidated SAN networks, expertise and experience as provided by T&SE is a must. Moreover, an independent storage network can yield substantial benefits. Please contact us for more information on this subject.
