TELEMATICS and SERVICES History

1981:By taking over the management and support of an EMEA network of Networking Solutions Providers, Jean-Claude Münster deploys a dynamic business geared towards large internationally established firms, while pioneering several emerging technical concepts.

1994:A major turn marks T&S history
Telematics develops a Direct Sales and Support operation of CNT technology at a high pace. In those years, CNT becomes the leader in Channel Networking Technology, thereby allowing Telematics to get into very large accounts such as ING, Rabo Bank or EDS, while designing, installing and maintaining (still today) highly critical CNT Channel Extenders networks. The products are experienced by our customers as true “solution enablers”: they allow and facilitate Mainframe Consolidations as well as support the deployment of large-scale Disaster Recovery sites, by “extending” the CPU’s –and related storage- channels over long and very long distances.

1997:While Telematics is mainly involved in critical IT projects at large accounts, most of the time extending the IBM mainframe channels, IBM is proposing Telematics to become Storage Business Partner. It is during these years that T&S starts developing a strong expertise in the storage world and becomes a very strong TIVOLI TSM backup and recovery expert.
“Consolidation” becomes hype. With the advent of Fiber Channel, the Storage Area Network, or SAN, becomes the focal point for federating the Enterprise’s on-line and off-line storage, for both the surviving mainframe and the exploding open systems IT infrastructures. T&S becomes a key player for the implementation and the servicing of consolidated storage solutions, while deploying Business Continuance and Disaster Recovery for achieving ever more stringent recovery time objectives. The pallet of expertise that are necessary to commit on these solutions becomes very broad, and covers not only storage and backup, but increasingly more on SAN, middleware, server Operating Systems, Database management, and networking.

2000:Telematics is launching its Total Storage Solution Center in its Brussels offices. The TSSC allows Telematics to gain a very high level expertise in the SAN world and is the theatre of strong SAN assessments requested by our customers. The storage center becomes a unique competence tool that allows true commitment on results in any sales contract Telematics signs with its customers.

2002:Telematics is focusing on expertise with independence. This is the main reason why the company becomes an integrator and is at the same time strongly partnering with the main storage networking players on the market, like IBM, HDS, EMC, NetApp, Brocade, McData, Inrange, CNT and Cisco.

2003:While becoming one of the best Independent Storage Expert on the European Market, Telematics is focusing on strong and long term Customer Partnerships. In may 2003 Telematics signs a Long Term (10 years) Service Contract with the European Patent Office for a revolutionary new Business Operational Model – the Managed Storage Services which positions TS on top of the Storage Services Companies. Countries covered pro-actively are the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France. Services are provided in several extra Countries.

2006:Telematics and Services is positioned on the European market as a key player in Independent Storage Networking Expertise. We focus on long term service contracts with our customers, hereby helping them in the selection and management of their storage networking infrastructures. The SRIB (Investment Company of the Brussels Region) becomes a minority shareholder of T&S, showing the long term support of the Brussels Region in High Tech Service Companies.
